Welcome!

This is a new blogspot for Spiritual Growth and Bible Study at MCC of the Spirit in Harrisburg, PA. During Lent, we will be studying the book The Jesus Priorities: 8 Essential Habits by Christopher Maricle. It is available at Cokesbury or Amazon.com. So get the book. Come to worship and hear a sermon on the priority we will discuss for the week. (This begins on February 10) Then check here for the scriptures, questions, and discussion and add to the discussion! I will try to check it regularly and help the discussion along.

This is a new venture...help us try something new!

I lost my first comment due to lack of a password, so here goes again.

I want to be a healer, and to experience true healing in my life. In the past, I have been able to extend love and passion while ministering in Africa, but now because of my physical and mental challenges, my circumstance of trying to be a father from afar and my financial strugges. it is so hard to be deeply connected with passion to those around me. It was good to be reminded that I need to be "seeing with my heart". My focus (taking my eyes off ME) is key in understanding how I can touch others with the love of Christ.
Allowing myself to experience freedom in my life can coome about by opening my heart to a stranger (one who I have not met before, but want to understand what his/her felt needs are first of all. In the book Open Heart, Open Home. She talks about how important it is to allow strangers in our lives (i.e. inviting them to dinner, allowing them to be apart of our family and understanding their world view (not through our eyes, but understanding them as unique and loved by God). It certainly brings a drastic change in my/our life because I can become deeply connected with passion, and I can see with my heart what God will do deep within my soul... I praying that this Lenten season will be a very special one for all of us in our church family....
